A stunning full renovation of a chapel built in the 1800’s, situated in the village of old Malton.
The beautiful exterior of the building enhanced through the erection of handmade timber sliding sash windows and a large handmade triple roof window to the measurement of 2.6m by 3.3m. Internally we made use of this light, accompanying this with extra glass in the bedrooms and bathrooms to allow for the passing of natural light, attracting light throughout the entire building. The alterations to every existing window openings, including new stone heads and cills corresponded to the exquisite exterior of the building.
The formation of a new structural opening allowed for double oak doors and gable window frames to be fitted, complementing the existing character of the building. Oak ledged and braced doors with chrome thumb latch handles were fitted to create a contemporary and natural look of the building.
The interior of the building enhanced through the sculpting of curved ceilings, adapting an eye catching seamless look and feel of the interior design. The use of dark farrow and ball railing eggshell on the woodwork within the building, was chosen to contrast with the white walls and to border the light oak doors. The creation of a steel frame staircase with oak treads, is a remarkable feature within the property, with an appealing contrast between the black steel and oak.
A handmade black kitchen with a steel breakfast bar, oak larder unit and kickboards fitted to create a unique and contrasting design of kitchen, within the downstairs open planned living area. A log storage was built in the backlighting of the living room to utilise space through an attractive storage area. Handmade titanium propeller tip light shade covers were restored and fitted throughout the property alongside the use of spotlights, up-down lights and traditional lantern wall lights.
The flooring within the downstairs area finished with the use of polished dove grey limestone tiles alongside underfloor heating throughout the entire downstairs area and within both bathrooms. The master bedroom with an on-suite has limestone tiles on the floor alongside the use of spotlights and wood effect tiles on the wall.
